OCR guide

Copy the text. Keep the screenshot.

Recognize a selected area locally, or use detected word regions to hide text before sharing.

Recognize a selected area.

  • Open a screenshot and use C to select the area containing the text.
  • Choose OCR from the selection actions. You do not need to crop first.
  • Review the recognized text and detected QR content in the result window.
  • Choose the matching installed OCR language and copy the output you need.

Choose the right language.

Recognition uses Windows OCR language packages. If a language is missing, install its OCR support in Windows before selecting it in Klips. The language for recognition is separate from the keyboard layout.

Remove or pixelate text only.

Choose Erase or Pixelate, enable Text only and select the region. Klips uses recognized word boxes to apply the effect. Spaces between separate word regions are kept where the geometry allows; a rotated word box can include some background.

Review before you share.

Text-only mode is not a guarantee that all sensitive text was found. Inspect names, numbers, small text and low-contrast areas. Use a normal opaque or pixelated region when a word was missed or when the surrounding context also needs to be hidden.

If the result is unexpected.

Try a tighter selection, a matching OCR language, better source resolution or a less compressed image. A blank recognition result does not mean the area contains no information. Undo reverses an applied text-only operation.

What is sent?

OCR and text-only processing run on your PC. Recognized text is not sent to a Klips cloud OCR service.
