Getting started
Your first screenshot, a little better.
A short introduction to the tray, the editor and the selected area.
Find Klips in the system tray.
Klips stays available from the Windows system tray. Closing an editor window does not quit the tray application. Use the tray menu to start a capture, open an image, paste from the clipboard or open Settings.
Take a screenshot.
The default area-capture shortcut is Ctrl + Print Screen. Drag the area you need, then use the preview to edit, copy or save it. Fullscreen and window captures follow their configured automatic output actions.
Add a note.
Open the image in the editor. Choose an arrow, text label or another annotation tool, then select the result to adjust it. Undo and Redo let you revise a change without starting over.
Select before you crop.
Use C to draw a selection. Copy or OCR operates on that selected area without changing the rest of the image. Press Enter only when you want to crop, or Escape to clear the selection.
Choose an output.
Use Copy for the clipboard, Save for the current destination, or Save As to choose a new file. PNG is suitable for text, interface details and transparency; JPEG is useful for opaque, photo-like images. Auto chooses conservatively.
Set up only what you need.
Review capture shortcuts, save preferences and privacy choices in Settings. An S3 account is needed only if you want direct uploads to your own storage.
